Accessibility Statement

Power Up Homes is committed to making this website accessible to everyone, regardless of disability or access need.

Statement prepared: 10 November 2025  ·  Last reviewed: 21 January 2026  ·  Applies to: www.powerup.homes

This accessibility statement applies to the Power Up Homes website at www.powerup.homes, run by RetrofitWorks Limited.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. That means you should be able to:

  • Change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
  • Zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • Navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
  • Listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We have also made the website text as simple as possible to understand. AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible. We are actively working to resolve these issues.

  • Some pages may still contain colour combinations that do not have sufficient contrast against light backgrounds
  • Some interactive elements may not be fully accessible via keyboard navigation
  • Some form labels may not be properly associated with their input fields

Technical information about this website's accessibility

RetrofitWorks Limited is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Colour contrast

Our website uses a consistent colour scheme across all pages. We have identified and are addressing colour contrast issues where text and interactive elements do not have sufficient contrast against their backgrounds. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.3 (Contrast – Minimum).

The table below shows the contrast ratios for all colour combinations in our brand palette. Pages are being updated on a rolling basis to ensure all text uses only the passing colour combinations.

Colour combination Ratio Status
Approved — use these for text on light backgrounds
Dark Navy (#1e3a5f) on light backgrounds 11.5:1 PASS
Dark Blue (#132961) on light backgrounds 11.7:1 PASS
Dark Green (#0b433a) on light backgrounds 10.2:1 PASS
Bright Magenta (#db2777) on light backgrounds 4.6:1 PASS
Dark Pink (#D05790) on light backgrounds 4.6:1 PASS
Pass on dark backgrounds only
Green (#4bd695) on Dark Blue (#132961) 5.9:1 PASS
Teal (#2dd4bf) on Dark Navy (#1e3a5f) 6.2:1 PASS
Legacy colours — being replaced
Bright Teal (#2dd4bf) on light backgrounds 1.9:1 FAIL
Bright Green (#4bd695) on light backgrounds 2.1:1 FAIL
Light Pink (#fe9ced) on light backgrounds 1.8:1 FAIL
Coral (#e85a4f) on light backgrounds 3.5:1 PASS*

* Coral meets the minimum 3:1 ratio for large text only. It does not meet the 4.5:1 requirement for normal body text.

We are implementing approved colours across all pages on a rolling basis. All failing colours (bright teal, bright green, and light pink) are being systematically replaced. We aim to complete this work by 30 April 2026.

Form labels

Some form fields may not have properly associated labels, making them harder to use with screen readers. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships). We are working to ensure all form fields have proper labels as part of our ongoing accessibility improvements.

Keyboard accessibility

Some interactive elements may not be fully accessible using keyboard navigation alone. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.1.1 (Keyboard). We are working to ensure full keyboard accessibility as part of our ongoing accessibility improvements.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

We are committed to making this website accessible to all users. Our improvement plan includes:

Implementing consistent accessible colour combinations across all pages
Regular automated testing using WAVE and similar accessibility tools
Manual testing with screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver)
Keyboard-only navigation testing across all pages
Testing at 400% zoom magnification
Fixing identified issues in priority order based on user impact

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 10 November 2025. It was last reviewed on 21 January 2026.

The website colour scheme was evaluated on 21 January 2026 against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard. The installers page was tested using the WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool and demonstrates our corrected colour usage with all text achieving WCAG AA compliance using Dark Navy (#1e3a5f), Dark Green (#0b433a), and Bright Magenta (#db2777). The same colour palette is being implemented across all other pages on a rolling basis.

A comprehensive audit of all pages including registration forms, information pages, and user journey flows is ongoing. Manual testing using screen readers and keyboard-only navigation continues as part of our accessibility improvement programme.
